East Preston sits between Worthing and Littlehampton, and it is comfortably within our regular working patch. Village-scale, largely low-rise, and close enough to our Worthing base that we can get to an urgent repair quickly rather than promising a slot a fortnight out.

The housing here skews heavily towards bungalows and interwar detached and semi-detached homes, with a good number of properties in the private estate down towards the sea. Bungalows bring their own pattern of work: large roof areas relative to the footprint, long simple runs of tile, and often original 1930s felt underneath that has long since gone brittle. Being this close to the shoreline, exposed verges and ridge mortar are the usual first casualties, and flat-roofed extensions and garages are common enough that we are down there for felt and EPDM work as often as for pitched roofs.
