Trinity Roofing Sussex
Pitched Roofing
Complete pitched roofs for Worthing and Sussex coast homes in tile, slate or concrete, fitted by the same team from first survey to final sign-off.
What’s Included
Everything covered by our pitched roofing work
Full strip and rebuild
The existing covering comes off, the timbers get checked and any rot replaced, and the roof goes back together properly. Patching over a failing structure buys you two winters, not twenty years.
Breathable membrane and treated battens
New membrane and treated battens on every re-roof as standard. It is the layer nobody ever sees, and the one that quietly decides how long the roof above it lasts.
Your choice of covering
Natural slate, clay or concrete tile, matched to the property and to the street. We will tell you honestly where a cheaper covering is the sensible call and where it is a false economy.
Dry ridge and verge systems
Mechanically fixed ridge and verge rather than mortar bedding alone. Sussex coastal wind exposure finds mortar-only ridges eventually, and a dry system does not need repointing every few years.
Certified leadwork at every junction
Chimneys, abutments and valleys are where roofs actually start leaking. Ours are dressed by lead-welding-certified hands, not filled with sealant and hoped over.
Scaffold, site tidiness and clearance
Scaffolding coordinated as part of the job, the site kept tidy while we are on it, and everything cleared at the end. You should not be left with a garden full of old tile and nails.
How It Works
How we handle pitched roofing
-
01
Survey and honest assessment
We get up on the roof and look properly, not a glance from the pavement. If a repair would genuinely see you right for another decade, we will say so rather than quote you for a full re-roof.
-
02
Written quote, itemised
A clear breakdown of materials, labour, scaffold and timescale, with no provisional sums hiding the real number. You will know what you are paying before anything is booked in.
-
03
Scaffold and strip
Scaffold goes up, the old covering comes off, and the structure underneath gets inspected in daylight. Anything unexpected is shown to you and priced before we carry on, never bolted on afterwards.
-
04
Rebuild, clear and sign off
Membrane, battens, covering, ridge and leadwork go back in order, the site is cleared, and we walk the finished job with you before invoicing. Backed by our 2-year workmanship guarantee.

Common Questions
Pitched Roofing FAQs
Straight answers before you book. If there’s anything else, our team is a phone call away.
How long does a full re-roof take?
A typical three-bedroom Worthing semi runs four to six working days once the scaffold is up, weather permitting. Larger or more complex roofs (multiple valleys, several chimneys, heavy leadwork) take longer, and we will give you a realistic number at quote stage rather than an optimistic one.
Do I need planning permission for a re-roof?
For a like-for-like replacement on a standard home, almost never: it falls under permitted development. It changes if you are in a conservation area, the property is listed, or you are altering the roof profile or materials significantly. Parts of Arundel and central Brighton are affected. We will flag it at survey if we think it applies.
Slate or tile: which should I choose?
It usually comes down to the property, the street and the budget. Natural slate lasts longest and looks right on period Sussex housing, but costs more and needs a structure that can carry it. Concrete tile is the workhorse and perfectly good. Clay sits between the two and weathers beautifully. We will talk you through what suits your roof rather than pushing whatever we have in the yard.
Do you handle the scaffolding?
Yes, and it is priced into the quote rather than sprung on you later. Coordinating it ourselves means it arrives when the job actually starts and leaves when we are finished, instead of standing in your driveway for three weeks waiting on someone else's diary.
