Trinity Roofing Sussex
Flat Roofing
Flat roofs for Sussex extensions, dormers and garages, with the falls corrected and the detailing done properly rather than treated as an afterthought.
What’s Included
Everything covered by our flat roofing work
Deck inspection and repair
The covering gets the blame, but a soft or sagging deck is usually the real problem. We strip back, replace any rotten timber, and fix the substrate before anything new goes down.
Falls corrected properly
A flat roof that ponds will fail early no matter what sits on top of it. Falls get set to drain to the outlets rather than to whichever corner the building happens to lean towards.
Torch-on felt systems
Multi-layer torch-on felt, properly lapped and dressed. Unglamorous, long-proven, and still the right answer for a great many garage and extension roofs.
EPDM single-ply membrane
Single-sheet rubber membrane with no seams across the field of the roof, which removes the most common failure point entirely. Well suited to dormers and smaller extensions.
Upstands, trims and outlets
Every edge, upstand and outlet dressed and terminated properly. Flat roofs almost never fail in the middle; they fail at the edges, which is exactly where the shortcuts get taken.
Fibreglass (GRP) where it suits
Seamless, walkable and hard-wearing for balconies and roofs that see foot traffic. We will tell you where it is genuinely the better option and where felt or EPDM would serve you just as well for less.
How It Works
How we handle flat roofing
-
01
Assess the deck, not just the surface
We check what the covering is sitting on and how the roof currently drains. A quote written without looking underneath is a guess.
-
02
Specify the right system
Felt, EPDM or GRP, chosen for the roof in front of us and how it will be used, not for whichever system we happen to prefer fitting.
-
03
Strip, correct, and lay
Old covering off, timber repairs and falls corrected, new system laid with every upstand and outlet detailed properly.
-
04
Walk it and sign off
We go over the finished roof with you, explain what to keep an eye on, and back it with the 2-year workmanship guarantee alongside the manufacturer's cover on the membrane.

Common Questions
Flat Roofing FAQs
Straight answers before you book. If there’s anything else, our team is a phone call away.
Do you work on flat roofs as well as pitched?
Yes, and as proper work in its own right rather than something bolted onto the end of a pitched roof quote. Extensions, dormers, garages, porches and balconies are all regular work for us, in felt, EPDM and GRP.
How long should a flat roof last?
A well-detailed torch-on felt roof should give you twenty years or more, and EPDM comfortably longer. The variable is almost never the material: it is whether the deck was sound and the falls were right when it went on. That is why we quote on what is underneath rather than on square metres of covering.
There is water sitting on my flat roof. Is that a problem?
Standing water more than a day or two after rain means the falls are wrong or an outlet is blocked. It is not automatically an emergency, but it shortens the life of any covering considerably and it is worth getting looked at before it becomes a leak rather than after.
